UN Adviser Stephanie Williams stressed the importance of the role of youth in building a more stable future in Libya, noting that the current generation of young people has witnessed the scourge of wars, political unrest and divisions in institutions.
This came during an extensive political virtual meeting that Williams conducted, on Friday, with nearly 40 young women and men from different regions of Libya, where she reviewed the work she had undertaken in her current mission since her return to Libya in December 2021.
For their part, the youth participating in the meeting stressed “the necessity of fulfilling commitments in order to activate true national reconciliation, urging inclusiveness and protecting human rights and civil society,” according to Williams’ statement.
