In the presence of UN and international community, 5 + 5 JMC meets in Tunisia

The public session of the Security Working Group for Libya was held on Tuesday in Tunisia, in the presence of all members of the (5+5) Joint Military Commission (JMC) and the co-chairs of the group from the United Kingdom, Turkey, Italy, France and the African Union.

The session discussed the issue of monitoring the ceasefire, disarmament and demobilization as well as ways to move forward regarding the work of the JMC.

The UN Adviser Stephanie Williams stressed the importance of ensuring stability and calm on the ground, and expressed her congratulations to the members of the JMC for what has been achieved so far.

The members of the JMC from the eastern region had earlier suspended their work before they met again last May on the sidelines of a forum organized by the United Nations and European countries in Spain to go over the issue of the dismantling of armed formations and disarmament in Libya.
