US stresses need to end conflicts in the region, including in Libya

The newly appointed Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf said she would work with US partners to end conflicts in Libya, Yemen and Syria.

This came during a speech by the US official on the occasion of assuming her new position, in which she highlighted her country’s commitment to the Middle East and North Africa regions, stressing that her country’s commitment to them is firm and solid by working through diplomatic channels, expressing her aspiration to consolidate prosperity and enhance cooperation with the peoples of the area.

Previously, the US President Joe Biden nominated Leaf, who is a member of the Republican Party, to be responsible for the Middle East and North Africa regions, in the State Department because Leaf worked for a period of time in the region.
