Fears of a repetition of Palestinian meetings’ scenario at the meetings of Libyan parties

Many fear that the meetings between the political parties in Libya will turn into a duplicate of the Palestinian meetings that usually end without achieving any tangible progress, whether politically or security, due to the overlapping of interests by regional and international powers fueled by the lack of international guarantees for the implementation of results on the ground in addition to the narrow calculations of the parties and those behind them, which may mean that it would be difficult for the Cairo meetings to achieve a clear breakthrough in the crisis.

Some rule out that the major international powers are ready to facilitate the task of understandings in Libya because, so far, they recognize the unity government headed by Abdel Hamid Dabaiba, who still enjoys support in exercising his role despite the criticism.

According to the “Al-Arab” website; the absence of explicit support or clear rejection means that the meetings have turned into an end rather than a means, aimed at pacifying the crisis, and not moving it to escalation, amid the international community’s preoccupation with other events and the failure to effectively contribute to the solution in Libya.

The reality of international interventions in Libya is evident in the clash of Egyptian and Turkish interests, especially since Turkey has not modified its role in Libya since the policy of openness that it announced some time ago in its relations with some Arab countries, which means its unwillingness to resolve the crisis in Libya in the first place.

After the repeated meetings between Libyan politicians over the past years, it seems that the Libyans have absorbed the lessons of the Palestinian situation and will only trust what is achieved on the ground in terms of security, stability, elections and a new leadership capable of reunification.
