Sarraj urges security bodies to hand over judiciary file on terrorist attack at FM

Head of the Government of the National Accord (GNA) Faiez Sarraj urged security bodies on Wednesday to hand over a detailed file on the terrorist attack on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the judiciary.

During a meeting with GNA Minister of Interior Fathi Bashagha and the national security advisor Taj Eddine al-Razzagi, Sarraj highlighted the security measures taken to arrest all those involved in the attack and secure all citizens.

Sarraj stressed that the Libyan judiciary should be informed with the details about the terrorist attack, and that terrorists and outlaws should be confronted “forcefully.”

On Tuesday, three people were killed and more than 18 were injured a after suicide attack was carried out at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Tripoli by the Islamic State group (IS).

Tripoli Protection Forces Spokesperson Abdul Rahman al-Mazoughi was killed during Libya’s Foreign Ministry clashes with the attackers.

The three gunmen opened fire on the ministry, then two of them managed to get inside and blew themselves up after the security forces besieged them. The other was killed by ministry guards, a security source told Reuters.
