After a ten-year halt, European tourists arrive in Libya

The Wazen land port on the border with Tunisia received a convoy of tourists that included one hundred people of different European nationalities.

The Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts said in a statement: “The visit of the tourist group comes within the framework of cooperation between the public and private sectors to revive the tourism sector, after stagnation in the sector for a decade due to the security situation.”

The ministry, quoting an official in one of the private sector companies participating in organizing the visit, stated that there is cooperation to bring in more tourists next December.

After entering the country, on Monday, the tourists’ group is scheduled to visit several places, including the capital, Tripoli, the city of Sabratha, and some areas and tourist attractions.
