70 inmates break out of a Lebanese prison, police still in their pursuit

Dozens of prisoners managed to escape from Baabda prison in the Mount Lebanon region, at dawn on Saturday, while five of the inmates were killed due to a traffic accident at a later time.

About 70 prisoners and detainees were able to flee en masse from the prison, at dawn on Saturday, as some of the escaping prisoners stole a car near the prison, before it was subjected to a traffic accident that resulted in the death of five prisoners.

Lebanese security forces imposed tight security measures in Baabda to try to locate the places where the fugitives had disappeared, and were able to arrest ten of them, as they continued to pursue others.
